Pre-deployment briefings offered

Pre-deployment briefings are scheduled 10-11 a.m. Monday and May 7, 14, 21 and 28. Whether single or married, before you leave for 30 days or more on your next temporary duty, deployment or remote tour, learn how you and your family can prepare for and cope with the challenges of separations and reunions. Married members are encouraged to bring their spouses.

Before your separation, retirement ...

Pre-separation counseling will take place 1-2 p.m. Monday and May 7, 14, 21 and 28. By attending, you will complete the mandatory Department of Defense Form 2648 for pre-separation counseling, the form required for final out-processing. You must complete the pre-separation counseling checklist no later than 90 days before your retirement or separation. Pre-separation counseling is offered 1 p.m. Mondays. Call to register or stop by 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. No appointment necessary.

Market yourself for a second career

A transition assistance program class designed to assist you in marketing yourself for a second career is planned for 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 8-11 and 15-17, and June 5-8 and 12-15. Discussion will cover resume writing, interviewing, job-search skills and more for you to transition into the civilian community. Call to register.

Force shaping TAP seminars offered

Specifically designed TAP seminar workshops are offered to assist officers who will separate or retire because of force shaping efforts. Officers in grades O-1 through O-4 who meet the criteria to separate or retire under fiscal year 2007 force shaping initiatives are highly encouraged to attend these TAP workshops 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 8-11 and 15-17. Identify “force shaping” when you call to register.

Understanding the mortgage process

Learn how to qualify for a loan, the documents required and how much you can afford 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday. Call to register.

Support for Air Force spouses

Heart Link, an orientation class designed for those who have been with the Air Force family for less than five years, will take place 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Come learn about Air Force culture, education and employment opportunities and make new friends. Childcare, breakfast and lunch are provided. Call for more information.

Federal resume workshop

Learn how to write an effective federal resume and the knowledge, skills and abilities for a job announcement 1-3 p.m. Thursday. Call to register.

Thinking of buying a home?

A credit management/home-buying seminar will take place 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 7. Find out what it takes to buy a house, what to look for and what’s available. Get the advantage by becoming an informed buyer. The seminar will also include information about establishing a budget, how to work your way out of debt and more. Call to register.

Want a new job?

Do you have a marketable, effective resume to get you an interview for the job of your dreams? Come out 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 29 for this resume workshop and learn how you can emphasize your strengths on paper as you search for a new job. Call to register.

Start your own business

Do you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur? This class that will take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 31 will help you discover if you have the necessary personality traits to become successful as an entrepreneur, learn more about different types of self-employment opportunities, gather information on how to get started with your own business, and find out how to write a business plan. Call to register.

Become an informed buyer

The center provides credit counseling, which covers establishing a budget, credit cards — the good and the bad — payday loans and how to work your way out of debt.

Dental screenings available

The periodontal section of the Wright-Patterson Medical Center Dental Clinic is screening patients for potential treatment of periodontal diseases. Eligible members, including retirees, family members of retirees and family members of active duty, who think they need periodontal treatment can call 257-9616 or 257-9614 for a screening appointment.

Tan Son Nhut Association reunion

The TSNA Reunion, held in conjunction with the 7th Air Force Flight Opts (Scatback) Reunion, is scheduled for May 3-6 in Dayton and is open to all interested in the history and legacy of the TSN Air Base and the Vietnam War.
