Bret Stoneking cuts a mat down to size for framing a picture during a recent Arts and Crafts Center’s frame and mat class. The next class takes place Sept. 10; cost is $25 and includes supplies. Those framing skills may come in handy for the Gallery Showing on Oct. 12. Crafters and photographers may submit up to three multi-craft projects or photos per person for the showcase; entry deadline is October 1. For details, call 257-7025.

Brian Gourilis works with the mini-lathe at the Arts and Crafts Center. The wood shop now offers a safety and equipment qualification class for new patrons. The class must be taken before any beginner- or intermediate-level classes and costs $15. Students can save $10 on the safety class when signing up for both the safety class and a beginner or intermediate woodworking class. The next safety class will be held on Oct. 1 and 2.
