The Wright-Patterson Airman Leadership School hosted the graduation banquet for ALS Class 05-B Feb. 4. The graduation guest speaker was Lt. Gen. Richard V. Reynolds, Air Force Materiel Command vice commander.

Senior Airman Eugene King, a trumpet player assigned to the Air Force Band of Flight, was the John L. Levitow Award recipient. The John L. Levitow Award is the highest award presented to an enlisted professional military education graduate and signifies the student is the most outstanding in academic and performance evaluations and demonstrates the highest degree of leadership and teamwork.

The Distinguished Graduate Award recipient was Staff Sgt. Tiffany Bradbury, a recruiter assigned to the 330th Recruiting Squadron. The Distinguished Graduate Award is presented to the student who excels in academics, leadership ability, performance as a team player and ranks in the top 10 percent of the class.

Senior Airman Michael Blackburn, a recruiter assigned to the 339th Recruiting Squadron, received the Airman Leadership School Academic Achievement Award, which signifies scholarly excellence and is based on objective and individual performance evaluation scores. This award is presented to the student with the highest academic standing. Airman Blackburn also received the Airman Leadership School Leadership Award, which is presented to the student who demonstrates service before self, leadership and makes the largest overall contribution to the success of the class.

ALS consists of 192 hours of instruction, weekly uniform inspections, flag ceremonies and physical conditioning. For their community service project, Class 05-B volunteered at the Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County. The students spent time with children living at the shelter and helped with several facility maintenance projects. The class also raised money for the Fisher house and donated it in honor of Gen. Reynolds.
